Fulham's last 10 managers

18/01/2009 19:34:49
Fulham have had 10 managers since 1991 - some good and some awful. All 10 are listed below. I have put them in order of personal preference, let me know if you agree or disagree! (number of games in brackets)

1. Jean Tigana(154)
Inspired Fulham to play the best football of my lifetime.Brought in the likes of Saha and Malbranque and a style and flair rarely seen. Improved existing Fulham players beyond recognition and layed the groundwork for sustained Premier League survival. The 2nd division title, an FA Cup semi final, the Intertoto Cup and a Uefa Cup run were a more than decent return. "We won it one time!"
2. Micky Adams(63)
Started the Fulham revival pre Al Fayed. Fostered a great team spirit and got the best out of the likes of Morgan, Freeman and Conroy. A Fulham legend."Who put the ball in the Carlisle net?"
3. Roy Hodgson(43)
Masterminded the greatest of great escapes. Has steadied the Fulham ship. 2 or 3 players short of making Fulham history?
4. Chris Coleman(176)
Great player. Career cruelly cut short by serious car crash. Much respected by non Fulham fans, his departure split the Fulham faithful. Brought Jimmy Bullard to the club, but also signed the likes of Zakuani and Runstrom. Guided the club to best league finish in history.
5. Kevin Keegan(61)
Turned Fulham into a glamour club but left the club in dodgy circumstances, still labelled 'Judas' by many (including myself). KK secured a record breaking title win in Div 3. Financial power helped but many clubs had spent more and failed. In the end Englands loss was Fulham's gain
6. Don Mackay(161)
Was shoulder lifted from the pitch in celebration as Fulham secured a longer stay at Craven Cottage and narowly missed a play off spot after a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Griffin Park. Despite the lack of success I enjoyed the ride. Probably the only manager in history to be sacked at half time by Jimmy Hill!
7. Ian Branfoot(88)
Came to Fulham with a terrible reputation after surviving death threats at Southampton. Instilled some discipline into the a squad bolstered by veterans from Southampton, including Terry Hurlock and Kevin Moore. May claim credit for Fulham's upturn in fortune after bringing Micky Adams to the club
8. Paul Bracewell(50)
Consolidation was not on the menu for Fulham fans after a roller coaster few years. 'Persil' loved clean sheets and did a steady job, but couldn't deliver the immediate success that his boss craved. A model pro' but a fairly forgetful managerial reign
9. Ray Wilkins(44)
The Crab, was always onto a hiding to nothing, his Chelsea links and stepping into Micky Adams' shoes were guaranteed to make him unpopular. Wilkins could have turned it all around had he secured a promotion to Div 2, but Keegan deprived him of his chance on the eve of a play off semi final against Grimsby
10. Lawrie Sanchez(24)
Egomaniac, who should never have been let loose on a Premier League squad. Spunked a huge amount of money on Northern Irish diddy men and then played the long ball game.
